Ratio May Need Improvement
Your featured displays will not be affected by your ratio, but if you decide to only use free exposure then you may need to improve your ratio for better results. The closer you can keep your ratio to 100% the better the free results you will receive.
The Importance Of Still Following
The more connections you drop the less reliable you are as a someone to connect with. We prioritise the twiends experience for those users who are the most reliable. You can of course unfollow whoever you want (especially if you don't like their tweets), but if your drop rate becomes high then your own exposure will decline. Featured displays are not affected by this however.
Why Do Connections Drop?
A connection (follow) can drop for a number of reasons, and can sometimes be out of your control. It usually happens when you unfollow someone, but it can also happen if your twitter account becomes locked, or if the person you followed blocks you. In some instances it can also be removed by twitter. You should not worry about a small number of drops, especially those that are outside of your control. If you are dropping a lot of connections then you should check to see what is causing this and take corrective action. If you fix follows that were dropped then they will automatically be corrected here within a day.
How Often Is This Checked?
We continually check connections on twitter to see if changes are made. These checks occur every few minutes to every few hours, depending on recent activity and the likelihood of changes occurring. If you follow or unfollow someone then it may not reflect here immediately, but it will reflect in due course.
Tips & Tricks
We try and make twiends as fair and beneficial to everyone as possible, without imposing too many restrictions. With this in mind we have built twiends so that it will deliver maximum results to those who do this:
Do Small Daily Clean-Up
Because this is a discovery service we do expect you to clean-up a small number of connections each day, but we also set tight limits on this. If you come across a profile that you just don't like then by all means remove it, but also know that this will generally reduce your own exposure slightly.
Don't Bulk Unfollow
If you unfollow everyone then we will detect this and we will assume that you no longer want to participate. You will generally lose all of your exposure and you may also receive less exposure when you start up again due to the risk associated with your account. It may take many weeks for your account to return to normal if you do this and you will experience poor results during this time.
Unlock Your Twitter
Please make sure that you fully set up your twitter account, along with good tweets, profile picture, a registered phone number, etc. If you follow or unfollow too many people in a short space of time then twitter may temporarily lock your account. It's important that you unlock your account and reduce your future activity. All your connections will appear as dropped while your account is locked, so it's important that you fix this.
Time Zone
All our times are aligned to UTC. If you are not familiar with that then it means that midnight is roughly when it's midnight in London. If you are in the US then it means that your stats may already be halfway through the day when you wake up in the morning.
